While the card for the huge event on September 14 has yet to be officially announced, the rumor that has been circulating is that a possible Austin Trout vs Erislandy Lara fight would be held on the Mayweather/Canelo undercard.
But “No Doubt” Trout has told our own Michelle Joy Phelps at the 2013 ESPY Awards in Los Angeles that he will not be on the undercard for the highly anticipated PPV this September, but will instead be back in the ring this October and “maybe against Erislandy Lara.” Austin went on to say the rumors had him wondering if they were true and he called up Al Haymon who then told him that the September 14th Undercard rumors weren’t true.
Austin Trout (26-1, 14 KO) is coming off a hard fought loss by unanimous decision to Saul “Canelo” Alvarez this past April after getting his most rewarding victory over Miguel Cotto last December, and is looking to get back into his winning ways to remain a contender at 154lbs.
Erislandy Lara (18-1-2, 11 KO) on the other hand is looking to continue his rise in the division after defeating Alfredo Angulo by TKO after “El Perro” refused to continue. What a better way to make a statement at Junior Middleweight than to defeat Austin Trout.
So there you have it Boxingheads!
