Andre Ward is off the Miguel Cotto-Saul “Canelo” Alvarez undercard.
According to sources, Roc Nation, Ward’s promoter, is working to get Ward his own date on HBO and against better opposition.
It appears that it was a mutual decision between both parties to seek the latter.
In October, it was announced that Ward were to fight Australian super-middleweight Rohan Murdock (18-1) initially, but the Nevada State Athletic Commission rejected the fight on the basis that it was a mismatch.
Then, it was announced days later that Ward would fight 38-year-old Alexander Brand. Following an initial rejection of the bout by the NSAC, the fight was approved.
Given this latest revelation, Ward-Brand is likely of the table as well.
A phone call was sent out to Ward’s publicist, Julie Goldsticker, in regards to possible opponents he could face on the new date, but there was no answer.
A voicemail was left, though, it was not returned at the time this was written.
