Bruce Binkow joins Mayweather team as consultant

ESPN.com’s Dan Rafael has reported that former Golden Boy Promotions chief operating officer Bruce Binkow has signed on as a consultant to Mayweather Promotions in the wake of his resignation at Golden Boy a few weeks ago. Binkow, who was closely associated with recently departed CEO Richard Schaefer, is the first of the recent Golden Boy cast-offs to find work elsewhere.

Binkow had a significant presence in obtaining sponsorships for Golden Boy’s biggest fights and building relationships with sponsors. He has helped promote Floyd Mayweather‘s last eight fights.

This makes things look even more likely that Mayweather will not use Golden Boy as his shell promoter for future fights. Binkow was a key piece to what made Golden Boy valuable to Mayweather and he’s lured him away.

This is likely just the first in a series of these things we will see over the next few months.
