The fight between Floyd Mayweather and Andre Berto has been announced after much speculation. The fight will take place on September 12 in Las Vegas, at the MGM Grand on Showtime PPV. With Amir Khan and Andre Berto seemingly the only two in the final running for a big payday, Mayweather has picked Berto ahead of the speedy Brit.
Mayweather took to social media platform, Instagram, to announce his date while posting a picture of him vs Berto.
Mayweather comes off the unanimous decision win off Pacquiao to carry on his winning record to 48-0. He has faced fighters like Miguel Cotto, Ricky Hatton and Saul Canelo Alvarez in his career to name a few.
Berto is undoubtedly a strange choice. While Berto is a former world champion, it seems he has been trying to resurrect his career after his loss to Victor Ortiz in 2011. Berto has won his last two fights, beating Stephen Upsher Chambers via points and stopping Josesisto Lopez, and while no disrespect to these fighters, it seems strange that these wins would warrant a payday with Money Mayweather.
