While the news broke that Wladimir Klitschko will exercise the rematch clause to face Tyson Fury again, team Klitschko have not ruled out the possibility of the fight occurring at the Wembley Stadium in London.
Wembley Stadium held 80,000 fans when Carl Froch faced George Groves – a stat we are regularly reminded by Froch himself.
Boente also believes that the fight will take place in May or June of 2016.
Berndt Boente, manager to Klitschko stated that he would enter discussions with promoter Mick Hennesey regarding the details for the rematch.
“Yes, we said that last time, there is no doubt. If the best business case is in the UK, for example Wembley Stadium in London, we will be there,” Boente told Sky Sports.
“I spoke to Mick Hennessy who was my partner in the last negotiation, and is the partner now. We will look into the different options of where the fight could be – in Germany or in the UK.
“We will, together, make a decision. I’m sure we will do the best for both teams.
“We need, definitely, a couple of weeks. My gut feeling tells me the fight will probably be in May or June.”
The former heavyweight champion released a video on his Facebook indicating that he will be exercising his clause stating, “Hello, I have a pre-Christmas gift for Tyson Fury and all boxing fans around the world. I’ll be making use of my contractual option for a rematch against Fury.
So to say: the fight of 2016 is in the making. I’ll keep you posted about the time and place and remember, failure in life is never an option.”
