Gonzales vs Oosthuizen Results

The bout between Brandon Gonzales (17-0-1 10 KOs) and Thomas Oosthuizen (21-0-2 13 KOs) was ruled a split draw. The scores were 98-92 Gonzales, 96-94 Oosthuizen, and 95-95.

Throughout the first five rounds of the fight, Gonzales would land huge straights and quick hooks with precision while the South African had no answer.

The last five rounds were somewhat of a different story. The rounds would get closer as the fight continued, including a few moments where Oosthuizen would answer the undefeated Gonzales back with combinations.

In the end, the judges ruled it a split decision draw leaving their records virtually untouched.

Golovkin vs Macklin Results

Gennady Golovkin extends his undefeated record to 27-0 and 24 KOs after knocking out Matthew Macklin (29-5 20 KOs) at 1:22 of the third round of the HBO Boxing After Dark main event with a vicious left hook to the body that left Macklin writhing in pain.

In the first round, Golovkin’s strategy seemed clear as he was applying pressure and would not let Macklin settle in. At the end of the first GGG landed a heavy right hand followed by a left on the head of the Englishman that sent him to the ropes as round 1 went to a close.

Round 2 Golovkin’s body shots were more prevalent, which was a sign of things to come. Round 3 showed Macklin fighting valiantly trying to stay in the fight while having a cut above his left eye, until he had him against the ropes and landed the body shot that would end the fight.

Golovkin retains his WBA and IBO Middleweight championships and could possibly looking for a bout with the current WBC Middleweight champion Sergio Martinez.
