Haye picks Fury to beat Klitschko, says may need stoppage to bring titles home again

Former heavyweight world champion David Haye has given his take on the Tyson Fury vs Wladimir Klitschko rematch – stating his fellow Brit will beat Klitschko although says it will be tougher task walking out of Germany with the titles.

“Yes, I believe he [Fury] will win the rematch,” Haye told IFL TV. “Whether he walks away with the titles is a different matter. I think he will win the fight like he won the first fight but the scores for the first fight were really close in my opinion.”

While Fury seemed to win the fight comfortably, the judges scored the fight 116-111, 115-112 twice – even though the ‘Hayemaker’ had the fight wider apart.

Haye believes that Fury will have to do a more eye-catching job and even knockout Klitschko to walk away with the titles second time around.

“I thought Tyson Fury won it by a long shot and if they were that close they can be [reversed]. All it takes is for Wladimir Klitschko 2-3 more rounds, that’s it and he would’ve won the fight.

“Whether he wins or not, I just hope that justice prevails and the true winner comes away. There’s nothing worse than when some goes to someone’s foreign country and gets ripped off.”

Haye was surprised that the Fury walked away with the titles in the first outing, insinuating that the German officials were possibly aware of the rematch clause thus allowing Fury to take the deserved titles home.

“I feared for Tyson Fury in that last fight, I couldn’t see the Germans letting him walk out with the title but they did, maybe because they knew there was a rematch clause. Whether they let him walk out with the titles this time around, maybe Tyson Fury will have to nail him to the canvas to really prove that he’s the winner, “ Haye told Kugan Cassius from IFL TV.

Haye was referring to how difficult it is to get a decision away in Germany as British fighters have suffered from questionable scorecards in the past.
