Mayweather and Khan engage in heated conversation at Garcia-Guerrero fight

Floyd Mayweather and Amir Khan were in attendance for the Danny Garcia vs. Robert Guerrero fight for the vacant WBC World welterweight title last Saturday at Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.

Thanks to video coverage from ESNEWS, now we have proof that there was indeed some back-and-forth chatter between Mayweather and Khan at ringside.

And not surprisingly, Mayweather’s crisp trash talking proved to be just as pungent as his signature jab.

Mayweather, who was watching the fight, implied that Garcia is not that great and that he would beat him easily if they fought.

“This [Garcia] is easy work here!” Mayweather exclaimed.

“All work is easy work,” Khan responded.

“I ain’t never been hurt!” Mayweather yelled at Khan.

“The best have been hurt,” Khan said.

Mayweather has rarely been hurt in a fight. With the exception of a devastating Shane Mosley right cross in 2010, which had him buckling at the knees in the second round, he still rebounded to dominate the remainder of the fight.

Then Khan’s wife, Faryal Khan, decided to join the fray.

“Come on Floyd! Take the fight!” she added.

But of course, “Money” brought the matter back to basics.

“When you make $300 million in one night, come talk to me.

“I’ll take a couple years off, get some victories, get in a couple W’s, and I may come back and take you.”

Mayweather has already hung up the gloves three times in his career. He retired following a split decision victory over Oscar De La Hoya in 2007, but after Ricky Hatton had dissed Mayweather following his fourth-round KO of Jose Luis Castillo, who gave Mayweather two tough bouts,  Money returned later that December and stopped him late in an exciting fight.

After the IRS had pursued Mayweather for unpaid back taxes, he returned to face Juan Manuel Marquez on September 19, 2009, and continued his incredible path, finishing at 49-0 with a unanimous decision victory over Andre Berto last September.

If Mayweather does decide to come back in 2025, assuming he meant taking a couple of years off from his last fight, he may already an opponent in mind.

“Like I said before, all he [De La Hoya] banking on now is Canelo [Saul Alvarez]. And [expletive], if I come back in the game – Canelo, you already know what I did to you, and I could do it again if you get out of line. Because you already know what I say – you violate, and I’ll demonstrate, and that’s all for 49.”

If Mayweather decides to re-emerge to conquer another day, Amir Khan and Canelo are two quality contenders that could make another lucrative payday for the sport’s No. 1 attraction.
