Mayweather responds back to Broner’s “f*** The Money Team” statement

Floyd Mayweather has responded back with some strong words for his ‘little bro’ Adrien Broner. It stems from Broner’s statement of “f*** The Money Team” – a statement he made last month after the BET Hip Hop awards. The Money Team is Mayweather’s brand and promotional stable. Broner’s choice words did not sit well with Floyd Mayweather.

Mayweather responded today by telling FightHype that he feels like he and Al Haymon have spoilt Broner.

“Some of these fighters, we spoil them too much. I’m being honest, me and Al together, we both spoil these fighters too much. A lot of them are appreciative, but a lot of them are not appreciative. You know, you got fighters that I’ve stood behind, like Adrien Broner.

“When he lost to Maidana, I was the first one to post a picture of me and him, and I told him, “You know what? I’m behind you. Hold your head up high. Stay focused and you’ll be able to bounce back,” Floyd told FightHype.

“But then you have this same guy that I’m defending and standing behind and going to war for is the same guy that said, “You know what? I love my big brother Floyd Mayweather, but f*** The Money Team!” He’s the same guy that you can go on, if I’m not mistaken, my TMT website and see that he had on a Money Team shirt. And then you was in Vegas, he had on the Money Team sweatsuit. So I never really understood that.”

Mayweather also questioned Broner’s status as a champion, stating he would not be proud to be considered a champion in Broner’s shoes. Broner lost to Porter earlier this year and then was immediately put into a WBA super lightweight title fight against Khabib Allakhverdiev. Broner beat his opponent and took the vacant title.

“On the flip side, I mean, he just lost to Shawn Porter. He lose to Shawn Porter, then you fight for a world title right after that, for a vacant title; you and your opponent coming off losses. Instead of saying, “Fuck The Money Team,” he needs to be thanking The Money Team because at the end of the day, Al Haymon is a part of The Money Team,” Mayweather said.

“I mean, me as a fighter, if I lost a fight, there’s no way in hell that my next fight I would be fighting for a title against another guy that’s coming off a loss. I wouldn’t even be proud or consider myself a champion. What makes that worse is they took the guy to your hometown to fight after you complained and bitched about getting beat on an even playing field.”

Broner spoke to Hot 97 earlier this month, as reported by BoxingScene, and said his statement towards TMT was “heat of the moment”.

“Sometimes it be the heat of the moment. I just did it on TMZ, at the BET Awards. I think it was TMZ, it was something. I was already mad because I’ve been hearing the TMT boys have been saying ‘f***’ Adrien and all of that. So I came out and they got all the cameras and I’m thinking that’s all he’s gonna ask, so I’m like ‘f*** the TMT, I f** with Floyd. I could have worded that differently. And big bro actually called me about that. He was pretty upset. It’s all love though.

AB, Needs to earn respect in the ring. It’s BS to get promoted to a status you didn’t earn. This is why Boxers and Boxing will always be looked at negatively. To slam his mentor, without even bothering to check, verify, or validate the gossip speaks volumes about his character. We all see you want to flash like Floyd, but you ain’t at that level yet. Get your hind pots in the gym and commit yourself to your sport. Nuff said.
