Mayweather vs Pacquaio grosses INSANE PPV numbers!
This past weekend we may not have witnessed the most exciting fight in history but we definitely witnessed the richest fight in history. Floyd Mayweather, Jr., vs. Manny Pacquaio is expecting to rake in close to 5 million in PPV sales according Yahoo Sports’ Kevin Iole.
Per Yahoo!: DirecTV sold 1.15 million pay-per-views, while Dish’s number was 500,000. The telephone companies combined for 600,000. Combined, that is 2.25 million already. If cable systems wound up being 60 percent of the total that would mean the final figure is 5.625 million.
As expected we knew this fight was going to sell itself, hence why Mayweather and Pacquiao didn’t need a world tour to promote this card.
Floyd Mayweather, Jr., loved or hated has proven not only is he the best defensive fighter of our time but that he is more than capable of proving that boxing is not dead. Floyd reigns as the only boxer who has fought in the top three highest grossing fights of our time; against Canelo in 2013 raking in 2.25 million in PPV sales and against Oscar de la Hoya in 2007 with 2.48 million in PPV sales.
One thing we cannot deny is that Floyd Mayweather, Jr’s, PPV numbers are more than likely to remain untouched for many, many years to come.
