Karim Mayfield’s manager implicated in plot to commit murder

Saturday night, unbeaten junior welterweight Karim Mayfield of San Francisco faces off with Thomas Dulorme on HBO in a bout that could ultimately lead to a world title shot. He will do so without manager Marlon Sullivan, who was implicated in a plot to commit murder according to CBS San Francisco.

Along with managing Mayfield and a small number of other local fighters, Sullivan is a licensed NFL agent. According to the US Attorney’s office, Sullivan lead a double life and was involved in some dark stuff, ranging from printing fake credit cards to agreeing to make a hit to an undercover agent.

If convicted of these charges, Sullivan could be put behind bars for quite a period of time. Sullivan has no previous rap sheet, something the manager allegedly boasted while being involved in a number of seedy operations.

Mayfield told SFWeekly that he hadn’t heard from Sullivan and is “appalled at the charges”. No telling what kind of an effect it will have on Mayfield in his fight on Saturday.
