Katsidis comeback begins with KO of Camaro

Michael Katsidis “The Great” won in his comeback fight, after nearly two years out, against Indonesian Eddy Camaro in a third round TKO in what looked a total mismatch of a fight. It was a warm up fight to get rid of the cobwebs and ring rust for Katsidis, but even he would have hoped for some fight from his opponent.

Katsidis came out strong in the first round with a variety of jabs and hooks to a bewildered Comaro. Journeyman Comaro lacked fight and heart throughout the fight. The difference in class was shown from the start and this was made this evident in the second round, where Camaro took a barrage of punches from Katsidis and eventually complained about a shot to the back of the head.

As the referee called for the fight to restart, Katsidis produced a right hook to the body which knocked down the Indonesian. This was the start of the end of Camaro, who was still infuriated with the back of the head shot from Katsidis.

In the third round, Katsidis produced a variety of combinations with eventually a left and right body hook combination knocking the wind out of Camaro, which ultimately knocked him down. He took an eight count, but no sooner had he got to his feet, Katsidis attacked again. The motionless Camaro went down for the second time and the referee had no option but to stop the contest. This was an easy win for Katsidis and now will hope to fight boxers that are on the same level as him to provide him with a test. Undoubtedly Katsidis got rid of the ring rust and will now look to move forward and to make his comeback a success.

Meanwhile, Brayd “The Great White” Smith won by unanimious decision against Jose Saez with the judges scoring it 79-73, 78-73 and 78-73. Jack Asis also beat Arief Blader in another unanimious decision win.
