Nielsen Bros. return Feb. 15 in Copenhagen

Danish fighting brothers Patrick Nielsen and Micki Nielsen return to action on Feb. 15 in Copenhagen at the Albertslund MusikTeatret according to a Team Sauerland press release.

Middleweight Patrick, whom I named one of 14 Prospects to Watch in 2014 in renowned British boxing publication Boxing Monthly (Feb. 2014 ed.), faces New Yorker Tony Jeter for a WBC silver title. The 22-year old is one of the brightest young prospects from that side of the world and could pick up where predecessor Mikkel Kessler left off.

“I’ve trained harder and more disciplined than ever before,” said Nielsen. “There’s a major belt at stake and I want my hands on it.”

Cruiserweight younger brother Micki (12-0, 10 KOs) faces off with Gogita Gorgiladze of Georgia for a Youth WBC belt.

“That’s what I train for,” said Micki. “To stand in the ring and prove myself. Just the walk to the ring gives me a great kick. It would be fantastic to win my first belt. It’s a big step towards the big dream of becoming a world champion.”

Micki revealed things weren’t always harmonious between the two.

“When we were 14-15 years old, we boxed against each other, but we had to stop because we became too angry with each other. We did not spare the other because we both wanted so much to win. You could be sure that you got payback if you hit the other hard,” Micki Nielsen tells with a smile.

“Today we are fighting for each other and help and support each other to get ready for the fights. It means a lot to me how Patrick is doing. I’m only relaxed when we both have fought our battles.”
