Shane Mosley Jr. scores KO in pro debut

Saturday night in Port Hueneme, CA junior welterweight prospect Jose Zepeda (20-0, 17 knockouts) scored a unanimous decision over Robert Frankel (32-15-1, 6 KOs). All three scorecards read 80-71.

The 24-year old Zepeda dominated throughout the fight. He stunned Frankel with a right hook and won the first round. He controlled round two landed good hard punches.

In round three Zepeda landed a strong left, right to the body that put Frankel down. Zepeda controlled the rest of the fight after that knockdown and cruised to victory.

Zepeda had 12 straight knockouts coming into this fight. The 33-year old Frankel has lost his last three, including a decision to Paul Spadafora.

In a junior lightweight bout, Saul Rodriguez (13-0-1, 10 KOs) scored a spectacular fourth round knockout over Miguel Zamudio (28-4-1, 16 KOs).

The 21-year old prospect dominated the action throughout. He landed the cleaner, harder punches and stunned the 22 year old Zamudio on a couple of occasions.

In the fourth round Rodriguez landed an overhand right and left hook that badly stunned Zamudio. He followed up with a flurry that backed Zamudio to the ropes. He then landed a massive left hook that ended the fight. Time of the stoppage was 1:09.

Rodriguez has scored five straight knockouts while Zamudio has been knocked out in all four of his losses.

In a middleweight bout, Shane Mosley Jr. (1-0, 1 KOs) made his professional debut stopping Mark Cordova (0-2, 0 KOs).

The 23-year old son of future Hall of Famer Shane Mosley, landed a left hook to the body that was too much for the overmatched Cordova.

The card was televised by UniMas and promoted by Top Rank.
