Showtime lines up a solid fight card for Dec 7th in Brooklyn!

Golden Boy Promotions held a press conference this week to officially announce the card to be broadcasted on the SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING telecast December 7th. The main event will pit two Brooklyn natives. The fighter out of Brownsville, Zab “Super” Judah and the fighter out of Bensonhurst, Paulie Malignaggi will go toe-to-toe to determine who is the “King of Brooklyn.”  In the co-feature, Austin Trout will face Erislandy Lara at junior middleweight. Also on the card will feature New York prospects “Sir” Marcus Browne and Sadam Ali.

Both Judah and Malignaggi are coming off losses in the same building where they are scheduled to have their clash for Brooklyn bragging rights.

Malignaggi’s recent defeat came from Adrien Broner this past June, in what Paulie and some fans consider to be a controversial split-decision, which he would mention during the press conference saying:

“That result definitely irked me. I don’t mind losing a decision; it’s close and can go both ways. Things happen. There hasn’t been a day since June 22nd that I don’t get at least one or two people no matter what city I’m in, come up to me and say, ‘Paulie, you got screwed in that Broner fight.”

On the other side, Zab Judah took a more relaxed approach talking to the press in comparison to the build-up of his fight with Danny Garcia.  “I lost my last fight here at Barclays and Paulie lost his last fight at Barclays Center and it didn’t mean anything. We are still two dynamite fighters,” said Judah. He would then bring up his advantages going into this fight with Malignaggi:

“My main edge over Paulie will be hand speed and power. Paulie has quick hands too. He throws a lot of punches, but he has nothing to hold me off.”

Meanwhile, the co-feature on December 7th has the return of Austin “No Doubt” Trout who’s coming off a UD loss to Saul “Canelo” Alvarez last April at the Alamodome and is looking to get back in the title picture and a possible rematch against Alvarez. He will be facing the Cuban fighter out of Miami, Erislanday Lara. Lara is looking to rack up another marquee victory to his resume after his TKO victory over Alfredo Angulo in June.

Prospects “Sir” Marcus Browne and Sadam Ali have opponents that are yet to be announced and will likely be showcased on the SHOWTIME EXTREME card preceding the main card.
