Wladimir Klitschko vs. Alexander Povetkin LIVE Oct 5th on HBO!
Saturday’s fight in Moscow, Russia, will make it nine and a half years since the last time Wladimir Klitschko had been defeated. At 37 years old, the Ukranian is looking to close out his career with the loss to Lamon Brewster in April 2004 as his last.
While he’s made a majority of his fights look easy in the last decade, he will be stepping into enemy territory this Saturday at Olympic Stadium in Moscow.
The undefeated Russian, Alexander Povetkin, has stopped three of his last four opponents and feels that it’s his destiny to overcome the challenge that Dr. Steelhammer presents.
Originally, the fight had been scheduled for 2008 but had to be postponed due to injury, and since Povetkin told Ring.tv:
The betting odds are largely in favor of Wladimir Klitschko and for good reason. One can look at Povetkin’s bout against Marco Huck as an indication, as Huck who is a natural Cruiserweight, made for a quality challenge against Povetkin. The game plan for the Russian on Saturday is to take the fight to the inside, where he feels that’s where Klitschko is at his most uncomfortable.
For Klitschko, facing an undefeated fighter is nothing to worry about. His last two opponents (Pianeta, Wach) also entered undefeated while Klitschko beat them in a landslide utilizing his trademark jab to keep his opponents at bay.
The fight will be broadcast live in the US on HBO at 3:30pm ET, tomorrow October 5th.
