Billy Joe Saunders has taken to Twitter to respond back to the offer made by Golovkin and his team. Frank Warren confirmed a lucrative offer had been made and that he would discuss this with Saunders, once he returns back from his break.
Saunders took to Twitter to respond, stating he would not back down from a fight with any man, saying that he would sit down with Warren to discuss Daniel Kinahan, the man who owns MGM Marbella and manages Billy Joe Saunders.
“People asking me about. [Regarding a fight with] GGG it’s down to my management @djk256 [Daniel Kinahan] and @frankwarren_tv [Frank Warren]. If I get the green light lets GO! Saunders wrote on Twitter.
“One thing is I am a fighting man I wouldn’t back down a fight from any man,” Saunders continued.
While a big money offer was made last week, Golovkin’s manager Oleg Hermann doubts that Saunders will accept such a challenge.
“We made a big offer to Billy Joe Saunders one week ago, but I don’t think he will take this challenge against GGG,” manager Oleg Hermann exclusively told World Boxing News.
“We made a big offer to him and he cannot say it’s not fair.”
After beating Lee, Saunders said he would need 18 months before facing Golovkin. While he targets a fight with Miguel Cotto, Saunders said: “Golovkin – he’s the man,” he said. “You’ve got to take your hat off to him.
“He’s a very good fighter, you’ve got to give him 10 out of 10.
“He’s the fighter of the year in my opinion.
“He’s struggling for opponents.
“He wants to clear up and win all the titles, but I’ve got to do what’s best for my career.
“I think I’m 18 months away from that fight.”
